Statement from President Rob Manuel on Las Vegas mass shooting

University of Indianapolis seal

The devastating mass shooting in Las Vegas yesterday impacts each of us. As our nation and community grieve the loss of life and those injured as well as the impact on their family, friends and first responders, we will find ways to mourn and reflect – together and individually.

At times like this we struggle with the appropriate words to describe this heartbreaking event. Yet, our expressions of support and care for each member of our community and the community of Las Vegas will guide us.

The University community will gather tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. (Tuesday, October 3) for a service of reflection in McCleary Chapel (Schwitzer Student Center).

If you are unable to join us for tomorrow’s service, please know that there are also a number of resources and support available now and in the coming days and weeks including:

Counseling Center at 317 788 5015

Ecumenical and Interfaith Counseling at 317 788 2106

Student Affairs 317 788 3530

McCleary Chapel will be open for individual reflection and prayer from 8am-4:30pm

As our nation begins to come to terms our sadness, please take a moment to remember in your thoughts and prayers the individuals and families impacted by the tragedy.

Warm regards,

Rob
